I was so enthralled with Steinbeck’s descriptive style and the way he captured the portrayal of characters that I proceeded to read everything Steinbeck had wrote. The “rush” of reading this literature propelled me to continue on with the works of Hemingway, Dickens, and by high school, I was fascinated with Shakespeare. I had found a new love in the literary world and it was the classics,” Nieder said when asked about his literary influences.

“Lacey’s Choyce,” Robert Nieder’s third book, was inspired by a dream he had. It felt so real to him that when he awoke, he wanted to continue the story.  The book follows the story of Lacey, a nine-year-old lone survivor of a massive fire that killed her entire family, and her neighbor, a young adult named Ezekiel.

Upon seeing the disaster, Ezekiel makes a promise to visit the young girl at the hospital.  He becomes enamored with Lacey and the two quickly form a bond.  Lacey has no relatives, and Child Services is her only option.  Wanting to keep Lacey out of the foster care system, Ezekiel takes her into his home.  Their world changes drastically as he learns that the fire was no accident and that there are thugs looking to find her.
