Author Elizabeth Sablon launches “Felizli Kids: Bible ABC at a Glance,” giving parents and educators a chance to teach kids the alphabet in inspiring biblical stories. The book, illustrated by her 9 and 12-year old daughters, Lizbeth and Liliana, embodies the imaginative perspective of a child on how he or she receives the world.
The book’s interior is purposely done in black and white illustrations. The author wants the children and the readers to experience the book on a personal level by letting them add colors to the drawings according to how they see it. It gives them a chance to display their creative interpretation of the illustrations and enrich them with their own set of colors.
“My book is a teaching tool for parents to use with preschoolers. I combined the alphabet with stories of the bible to make it more meaningful,” says Sablon.
The author shares that she had been inspired one Sunday morning while she was working at her local church in a children’s nursery. As she was reading to her students, she noticed that although there were many alphabet books, none were combined in a way that children could learn more from the stories in the bible. Eight years later, at a leadership class in the same church while listening to the assistant pastor’s testimony, she was compelled to act on her impulse and started writing the book she had envisioned all those years.
