CommonWealth One Federal Credit Union Supports Children’s Miracle Network, American Heart Association in April

CommonWealth One Federal Credit Union focused on giving in April with events supporting the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, Children’s National Medical Center, and the American Heart Association.
 
Volunteers from CommonWealth One woke up early to support runners and walkers participating in the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10-Mile Run and 5K Run-Walk on April 8. More than 19,000 people participated in the event (including 10-mile runners, 5K runners and walkers).
 
The 2018 event raised $380,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
 
CommonWealth One has supported the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10-Mile Run and 5K Run-Walk for several years with credit union members and CommonWealth One staff participating both as runners and as volunteers.
 
In addition, CommonWealth One staff members participating in the Harrisonburg Heart Walk to promote healthy living and support the American Heart Association. The Saturday, April 21 event raised more than $21,600 for the American Heart Association.
 
These efforts are examples of CommonWealth One’s many initiatives to give back to the community.

About the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten-Mile
The Credit Union Cherry Blossom is known as “The Runner’s Rite of Spring®.” The staging area for the event is on the Washington Monument Grounds and the course passes in sight of all of the major Washington, D.C. Memorials. The event serves as a fundraiser for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, a consortium of 170 premier children’s hospitals across the United States. About one-third of the funds raised support Washington, D.C.’s own Children’s National Medical Center (“Children’s Hospital”). Credit Union Miracle Day, Inc., a consortium of credit unions and credit union suppliers, is the title sponsor of the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten-Mile Run and 5K Run-Walk.
