Shakespeare’s Macbeth Reimagined in New Play
Actor-turned-author features a comical yet tragic remake to the Shakespearean classic
“Between Tomorrow and Yesterday” contains two satirical plays that aim to reflect man’s behavior when faced with obstacles and when given power.
One of Shakespeare’s most beloved plays, “Macbeth,” has been retold in Ev’one-yaY Eulasson’s “Between Tomorrow and Yesterday” to depict the extraordinary struggles of the two lesser-known individuals in the story.
“Between Tomorrow and Yesterday” contains two satirical plays that aim to reflect man’s behavior when faced with obstacles and when given power. The first play, “Sleep No More,” retells Macbeth’s story of love, power, and betrayal. The story shifts from Macbeth to the tragic narration of the two chamberlains: Cecil and Junebug. Cecil, an old chamberlain, finds that his life is in ruins after the death of his wife. His son, young Junebug, yearns for a love that only a mother can give.
The second play, “buy the bi and bye,” is set in an off-mainstream theater in May of the year 1976. Ev’one-Yay says it is “a satirical illustration of the ‘black theatrical expression.’”
