Former Educators Dan and Patty Jarzabkowski Publish Parenting Guide

Though both are long retired from their respective careers in education, Danny and Patty Jarzabkowski continue to teach, in some way, through their book “The ABC’s of Raising Responsible Children” (RoseDog, 2015). The book was written as a response to the frequent requests from parents who asked the couple for advice and resources that could help them raise responsible children.
 
Illustrated by Kelly Murray, one of Patty’s former students, the book is broken into three sections: the ABCs and the important words that each letter corresponds to (each letter is accompanied by a colorful illustration); character traits and their definitions; and a list of American values as well as an explanation to their importance. 
 
Dan has a master’s degree in education while Patty has one in teaching. The couple spent their whole career in public education: Dan served as a teacher, principal, and adjunct professor while Patty was an early childhood specialist who taught preschool and kindergarten.
 
However, their educational background alone does not qualify them to write a parenting guide, such as “The ABC’s of Raising Responsible Children.” They are parents themselves and they could relate to the struggles of parents in raising responsible children, which is why they decided to create a straightforward, practical resource that emphasizes on teaching responsibility to children.
 
“This book gives practical and easy-to-read ideas for parenting. It is best to begin these steps with younger children; however, you can make it work at any age!” said Dan. He and Patty hope that parents will go through the book with their children and talk about the meaning and importance of each word, character trait, and value.
 
Dan and Patty Jarzabkowski’s “The ABC’s of Raising Responsible Children” will soon be displayed at the inaugural New York Rights Fair, which will take place on May 30 to June 1, 2018, at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Manhattan, New York City.

About the Authors
 
Dan and Patty Jarzabkowski have spent 35 years together in marriage and that same amount of time in public education. They have two grown and successful children who are testaments to the information in this book. Patty is an Early Childhood specialist with training in Reading. She has hosted teachers in training and many volunteers in her room. Dan was a teacher, coach, principal and adjunct professor in education. Dan taught middle high school, and at a university.
