Bronx Novelist Alexander Rutherford to Attend BookExpo 2018

The 2018 BookExpo New Title Showcase also happens to be the US book market’s largest author autographing session. The event will kick off on May 31 to June 2, 2018, at the Javits Center in Manhattan, New York City.
 
According to the event producer ReedPOP, the BookExpo is intended to create meaningful interactions in a focused professional environment. Indeed, it is a prestigious book event that will draw thousands of attendees, including emerging authors.
 
Alexander Rutherford, who resides in nearby Bronx, is one of the emerging authors who will attend the 2018 BookExpo. He is the author of the coming-of-age novel “BFFs: The First in the Alex’s Dreams Trilogy” (Strategic Book Publishing & Rights Agency, 2017).
 
Rutherford had never given much thought to writing a novel until a classmate showed him a notebook containing the manuscript for a novel she had written. He figured if his classmate could do it, why couldn’t he, so he began conceptualizing “BFFs” (which stands for Best Friends Forever) in high school.
 
“BFFs” is the first book in a planned trilogy about the main character Alex and her friends that meet in high school growing up together and reaching young adulthood. The story takes place in California instead of New York, which Rutherford intends to deft readers assumptions that writers from New York write about the urban areas and the streets.
 
The book tackles dating, relationships, interactions of people of different backgrounds, and academic and social pressures and also delves into sexuality and intimacy.   
 
The author hopes to reach mature teens and young adults with his novel which he describes as “of a romantically dramatic nature based on sequences of ‘coming of age’ events in the lives of a group of teenagers dealing with general, social events beckoning all young people venturing into the varied and complicated stages of adulthood.”

Alexander Rutherford was born in Queens, New York, and currently lives in the Bronx. He is a Transaction Bookkeeper at a notable church that doubles as a highly revered Commercial Real Estate entity.
 
Mr. Rutherford has finished his second novel, the sequel to “BFFs: The First in the Alex’s Dreams Trilogy.” He does not plan to release it until he has seen sufficient success with his first novel.
