Robert Mackel Shares Stories of His Youth in Memoir

Luxembourgish American author Robert Mackel published “The Adventures of Young Roby and Other Accounts” at the encouragement of his family. In this book, he gives entertaining and amusing accounts of his childhood and teenage years in Luxembourg, a small country in Europe.
 
Mackel, who was born three weeks after V-Day, talks about his life growing up on a farm in his home country, his home and family, his adventures, family vacations abroad, his time in the Boy Scouts, taking up judo during his teenage years, his life as a high school and university student in Europe, and his journey to America.

About the Author
 
The author, Robert Mackel, was born in Luxembourg, where he spent his childhood and teenage years. He received a diploma in Psychology from the University of Zurich (Switzerland) and a doctoral degree in neuroscience from The Rockefeller University in New York. He was a faculty member at Rockefeller University and adjunct faculty member at the Neurology Department of New York Hospital - Cornell University Medical College. He served as president of the National Council for Higher Education in Luxembourg and was named “Chevalier de l’Ordre de Mérite” by Grand-Duke Jean. He is retired and lives in New Haven, Connecticut. He is married to Emily Brink and has two children, Charles and Katharine.
