Career Firefighter Writes a Book That Inspires Flight of Imagination in Children

The book is categorized as fiction, but the main character of the story is inspired by the author’s own daughter, Emily. The story is set during the first day of summer vacation. Emily is excited to play and enjoy the sunny outdoors with her friends when a thunderstorm suddenly comes along. The bad weather even comes with a blackout, which means that she can’t play with her friends and can’t watch television too. Determined to seize the day, she finds other means to entertain herself. She looks for old boxes and creates an airplane for herself. With it, she takes flight and lets her imagination fly her to different places to enjoy numerous adventures.

Endearing and imaginative, Emily’s Imaginary Airplane will delight and inspire young readers to use their creativity to enjoy their playtime. The book was featured in LitFire Publishing’s booth during the AJC Decatur Book Festival, which ran from September 1 to 3, 2017.

David Anderson is a career firefighter from Hamilton, New Jersey. Emily’s Imaginary Airplane is his first published book. The story is based on Emily, one of his twin daughters.
