Author Peggy Viverette has lived a difficult life but has learned to always count her blessings. Throughout her journey, she has picked up several insights that she shares in her memoir, “Learning to Live and Living to Learn.”

The book chronicles the life of the author from her childhood, growing up in a farm, to getting through life as a married woman and writer. At a young age, Viverette had to contend with arduous circumstances, being a daughter of parents whose main source of living is tending crops. Her relationships with friends were always cut short because her family had to move a lot and work in other farms.

Married life proved to be more of a struggle for Viverette. She was wed at the age of seventeen, but her husband did not treat her well. She was divorced in her early thirties and felt very much alone, except for the company of her children. Viverette shares moments of happiness and doubt all throughout the memoir, and these have made her appreciate the blessings she has been given. She also wrote about her faith in God and strong character, which allowed her to continue hoping and striving for a comfortable life.

“Learning to Live and Living to Learn” is one of the books featured in LitFire Publishing’s booth in the prestigious AJC Decatur Book Festival from September 1 to 3, 2017.
