In a deep jungle, a herd of elephants welcome a new member. Baby elephant Tambo grows up in a loving and protective herd. “Tambo: An Elephant Adventure” follows young, mischievous Tambo in her extraordinary journey.
School teacher-turned-author Melanie Kordsmeier aims to teach young children, especially her grandchildren, about the dangers of animal poaching. Through the story of an elephant calf named Tambo, she found her medium. In her book, Tambo found herself separated from her herd while chasing after a butterfly. After realizing this, she panics and cries for help. However, she was caught in a poacher’s trap instead.
Two village kids heard her cry and saw Tambo in the trap. Will the children help Tambo? Can the young elephant reunite with her herd? “Tambo” is rich with wonderful illustrations and a storyline that incorporates family, adventure, and friendships.
