Washington, DC city agencies rely on Intergraph solutions for emergency incident management needs

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., October 18, 2006 – Intergraph Corporation (NASDAQ: INGR) today announced an expanded role in ensuring the safety and protection of the nation’s capital by providing emergency incident management solutions to the Unified Communications Center (UCC), Washington, DC’s new state-of-the-art emergency response command and control center.

Designed to maximize the allocation of people, technology and business processes, the Unified Communications Center consolidates public communications functions of the DC Police; Fire and Emergency Medical Services (FEMS); Emergency Management Agency, and Public Services. The UCC relies on numerous Intergraph public safety solutions to promote effective and efficient response in dealing with emergencies and non-emergencies in the DC metropolitan area.

According to Mike Latessa, director of the Office of Unified Communications, “The District of Columbia is committed to public safety and first-class customer service. With this in mind, we developed the Unified Communications Center to consolidate functions, personnel, equipment and systems to drive efficiency and help our dispatchers work more effectively. By partnering with Intergraph, the District is able to leverage cutting edge technology that promotes multi-agency information sharing in real-time, which will shave off time when seconds count most.”

Intergraph has enjoyed a successful, long standing relationship with the District of Columbia and a number of adjacent public safety agencies in the capital region. The DC Metro operation includes multiple agencies leveraging Intergraph technologies in their central and field control centers across multiple districts, including DC Metropolitan Police Department, Department of Public Works and FEMS. As one of the region’s largest emergency response organizations, DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services operate 33 engine companies and a fireboat company, 16 truck companies, three heavy duty rescue squads, and at least six other administrative/operational facilities. Additional nearby Intergraph installations include the U.S. Capitol Police, Naval District Washington, Frederick County, Md., and Howard County, Md.

Intergraph President and CEO Halsey Wise commented, “Public safety organizations across the world depend on Intergraph for efficient and effective command and control. Through the use of Intergraph’s emergency incident management technologies, the Unified Communications Center is equipped to not only respond to emergencies, it is equipped to share information with other local agencies in real-time, promoting efficient response.
