Justice in the Midst of Civil War

Justice is often ignored or found to conflict with other matters during wartime. The best outcome is not always achieved, as shown in artist and author Stan Briney’s book, No Time for Justice.

Set in North Texas and Indian Territory (now Oklahoma), the historic fiction novel is based on events, times, and locations before, during, and following the American Civil War (1861 to 1865). A young man of mixed Cherokee and Choctaw Indian descent must make a very difficult decision during the war. Will he fight for the honor of his deceased white Unionist stepfather who has been murdered by a Confederate, or will he defend his birth mother’s Confederate and Cherokee culture?

Both teens and adults with interest in both history and fiction will enjoy this book, gripping with vivid detail and intrigue from the first to the final pages.

About the Author

Stan Briney spent his professional career of thirty-five years in both clinical and academic medicine with a specialty of diagnostic radiology. During that time, he was honored with both state and national recognition for his work. Since his retirement from medicine in 1995, he has devoted his energy to a second very successful career as an artist and free-lance writer. No Time for Justice is his fifth book published.
