The software also assists in quick access to source documents for CRA post-assessment requests. This intelligent solution provides tax professionals with unprecedented productivity and efficiency benefits.

Using CCH Scan, client source documents can now be front-end scanned and processed into a bookmarked PDF. The program does not require the user to classify client documents before they are scanned – CCH Scan identifies the slips and documents and classifies them automatically. The employee simply needs to name the completed PDF file and note if it is a single or multiple page document. Administrative staff can use this intelligent technology to undertake and accomplish the tasks that are typically performed by preparers and reviewers. As a result, the overall cost of completing a return is reduced, accuracy is increased and professional staff are able to focus more of their time on serving their clients’ needs.

CCH Document is a document management system that enables users to set levels of file access and retention policies. PDFs generated by CCH Scan can be automatically routed to CCH Document for storage and future retrieval.

CCH Scan also integrates with Taxprep, Canada’s leading professional tax preparation software. This intelligent integration enables users to benefit from the automatic linking of PDF files to T1 returns. When the preparers open the returns, the electronic slips can be displayed in a split window along with the tax return. The relevant Taxprep forms are automatically loaded based on the displayed PDF slip. Even unclassified documents, such as a handwritten note with financial details, can be linked to the appropriate part of the return.

PDFlyer – Adds more paperless power
Accounting professionals can complement CCH Scan with PDFlyer, an Adobe Acrobat plug-in that adds special functions accountants require when working with PDF files in a paperless environment. Together, these two solutions create a very efficient system for preparing paperless T1s. PDFlyer facilitates working with multiple PDF files in a dual-screen environment, and adds key accounting functions, such as an electronic calculator tape that operates within a PDF. All the information and comments used to prepare the return are now stored electronically, and are ready for instant retrieval; all using the most pervasive, accessible and secure business document format: PDF.
