Aviva has teamed up with the payroll software provider BrightPay to help smaller businesses get to grips with auto-enrolment

Aviva has teamed up with the payroll software provider BrightPay to help smaller businesses get to grips with auto-enrolment.

Integrating with BrightPay will allow employers who have their workplace pension with Aviva to manage their payroll and auto-enrolment responsibilities quickly and efficiently.

Aviva’s online platform for auto-enrolment has already allowed thousands of employers to set up their workplace pension scheme in under 10 minutes. By working alongside BrightPay, employers will be able to manage their employee’s pension contributions with the minimum amount of effort.

Many SMEs currently rely on HMRC’s Basic PAYE Tools (BPT) to process their payroll. It is a free tool, but HMRC has already confirmed BPT will not cater for auto-enrolment processes or calculations.

This leaves business owners to manually calculate pension contributions, work out who needs to be assessed and produce the auto-enrolment communications which may lead to errors. BrightPay is capable of completing these important processes and calculations efficiently and accurately.

Andy Beswick, Managing Director, Business Solutions at Aviva, said:

“I’m delighted to be teaming up with BrightPay. They are a really innovative payroll software provider and it is a great fit with Aviva’s ‘Digital First’ strategy.

“We have worked hard to make auto-enrolment as simple as possible for smaller businesses that don’t have the resources of larger firms. But there are multiple elements to making auto-enrolment a smooth process for employers. It’s great to work with companies like BrightPay that are helping auto-enrolment to be a success.

“This announcement should also make the market more attractive for financial advisers who can play a key role in the development of auto-enrolment. They will be able to advise on new and existing schemes knowing that their clients will have the necessary software in place to manage the day to day running of their workplace pension scheme.”

Paul Byrne, Managing Director at BrightPay, said:

“We were really keen to work with Aviva as they have embraced new technology. Our customers want an integrated transition between the payroll and pension provider. As Aviva offers an API integration with BrightPay, it was a natural choice for us to work with Aviva and be one of the first payroll providers to offer this to employers.

“We also have a shared interest in helping employers simplify their payroll and auto-enrolment processes especially those who use HMRC’s Basic PAYE tools. Using BrightPay and Aviva, employers can take advantage of an automated and fully integrated system which makes submitting a pension file each pay cycle seamless.”
