Rev. Peter Vu Publishes Prayer Guide for Children and Parents

Reverend Peter G. Vu published “Lord Jesus, I Want To See… Family/Children Edition,” an engaging prayer book for children and families. What push a priest to write a family devotional? 
 
Nowadays, children and families cannot memorize and recite traditional prayers. Children are already busy with sports, computer games, friends, and their social lives. Worse, they become an easy target for bad influences from a society that has become indifferent to faith and the temptations that abound due to the powers of darkness that is prevalent in society.
 
Reverend Vu realized that by making a prayer book designed for children and families, he can help them strengthen their faith in God and their prayer life.
 
“Lord Jesus, I Want To See helps its intended readers start their week right. The book gets them to reflect and work on specific topics such as friendship, faith, love, generosity, forgiveness, thankfulness, and more.
 
Reverend Vu hopes that through this book, children and families may grow closer to God and acquire Christian attributes and other qualities each day as they try to become better individuals in this challenging world.

About the Author
Rev. Peter G. Vu is the author of the memoir, “Living for Higher Purpose: Story of a City Boy Who Survived the Viet Nam War by Living for Jesus and Others.” He is also the author of 2 other devotional prayer books: “Lord Jesus, I Want to See… (Adult Edition)” and “Lord Jesus, I Want to See… (Family/Children Edition).” He is currently a Catholic priest of the Diocese of Grand Rapids, Michigan for twenty years and a chaplain at Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. He was born in Saigon City, Viet Nam.

He was a young boy when the Viet Nam War ended. He witnessed the war and the end of it with great horror and deep appreciation for peace. He grew up under the communist government system and endured lots of hardship. What helped him and many of his countrymen tremendously during those dark days was their faith and prayers. His love for prayer and meditation was able to blossom.

After High School, Vu snuck out by boat and came to the United States of America to begin his seminary training. He attended one year of High School in the USA (Union High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan) to learn the language and new culture. He attended Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan for two years while staying at Christopher House Seminary. Then, the Seminary sent him out of state to attend his last two years of college at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. He graduated with double major: Mathematics and Philosophy. He then attended graduate school at the University of St. Mary of the Lake and Mundelein Seminary in Chicago, Illinois. Vu graduated at the top of his class and was ordained with the Master Degree of Divinity (MDiv) and the Sacred Theology Baccalaureate (STB). He was a student of Most Reverend Bishop Robert Barron, who is the prolific writer and international speaker.

Vu has been ministering to people of God at six different churches over the last twenty years.
