TestAmerica to Present at the Battelle Conference on Remediation of Chlorinated and Recalcitrant Compounds

Palm Springs, CA – WEBWIRE

TestAmerica, the leader in environmental testing, is pleased to announce its participation in Battelle’s Eleventh International Conference on Remediation of Chlorinated and Recalcitrant Compounds in Palm Springs, CA.  TestAmerica will be presenting three technical posters at the conference, which will take place April 8-12 at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

The Battelle Conference is one of the largest and most involved conferences in the world to highlight the innovative technologies and approaches available to entities engaged in characterizing, monitoring and managing complex and chlorinated sites.  TestAmerica will present the following three technical posters at the conference:

  • Closing the PFAS Mass Balance: The Total Oxidizable Precursor (TOP) Assay, presented by Karla Buechler, discusses the use of the TOP Assay technique to measure the concentration of non-discrete and difficult to measure PFAS compounds that are not determined by conventional analytical methods.  Ms. Buechler’s research describes how TOP assay data can help users understand the potential PFCA precursor content, and can provide valuable details regarding the carbon chain lengths of the PFCA precursors present at a site.
  • Challenges in the Measurement of Dissolved Gases in Water Samples from Shale Plays, presented by Dr. Kesavalu Bagawandoss, will focus on research compiled from three laboratories performing dissolved gas analysis by method RSK-175, for which no promulgated EPA method currently exists.  The laboratories employed slightly different techniques to the method, as well as utilizing different GC columns.  The variations in the raw and QC data led to the conclusion that a standardized and validated method for dissolved gas determination is necessary.
  • Improving Dissolved Hydrocarbon Gas Analysis in Water, authored by Dr. Mark Bruce and presented by Karla Buechler, describes how the analytical process differences between the handling of water and gas phase based standards, or reference materials, can introduce a low bias in the final results.  Dr. Bruce’s research concludes that using water based standard samples can significantly improve the accuracy of the final results of PT studies.

TestAmerica has been at the forefront of the analytical testing industry, offering dissolved gas and emerging contaminant testing for decades.  TestAmerica performs dissolved gas testing for Methane, Ethane and Ethene by method RSK-175, using water phase calibration standards which can improve the accuracy of final results.  PFAS testing is available from multiple TestAmerica laboratories, with the TestAmerica network offering the nation’s largest LCMSMS capacity dedicated to PFAS testing.  TestAmerica also offers methodologies for TOP Assay testing, as well as PFAS replacement chemicals such as GenX.
