NYU Instructors and other users of the TANDBERG Content Server will now be able to create and edit video recordings even easier than before

NEW YORK and OSLO, NORWAY, Oct. 17, 2006 – Clearly residents at NYU Medical Center put their patients first. Unwilling to leave their patients bedsides to attend to their own academics, only 30-50% of residents were participating in daily education conferences. That number has now soared to 90% with the help of streaming and archiving capabilities from TANDBERG. Today TANDBERG® (OSLO: TAA.OL), a global leader in visual communication, enhanced its streaming and archiving offering to make it even easier for experts to record video content. For viewers, like NYU Medical Center residents, it means secure access to important messages and events at any time from any PC – at home, from a coffee shop or from a doctor’s lounge.

Dr. Erica Shapiro and Dr. Marc Auerbach, chief residents for the Department of Pediatrics, “saw a real need for getting a better educational experience without compromising patient care.” Implementing video conferencing helped bring residents from three different locations together for lectures in real-time, allowing doctors to be just minutes away from their patients.

NYU Medical Center added the TANDBERG Content Server to its video systems to expand the number of residents that could access the lectures. Instructors in the pediatrics department currently employ the TANDBERG Content Server to record their classes and presentation materials – including PowerPoint presentations, X-rays, and electrocardiograms. Residents are then able to view the daily lectures when it fits their demanding schedules, enabling instant access to expertise.

Explains Dr. Shapiro, with the TANDBERG Content Server, “all our residents gain access to the lectures and presentation materials – without compromising patient care. During their available time, everyone who missed a class can view it – from any PC, at any time of day, easily.”

“TANDBERG’s Content Server truly scales knowledge by ensuring that critical content is captured and made accessible to everyone in an organization,” says Fredrik Halvorsen, TANDBERG chief executive officer. “We have worked closely with our customers to expand the applications of video and the Content Server is a clear example of using technology to support the educational experience.”

The TANDBERG Content Server enables organizations to easily record, manage and distribute business-quality video and multimedia presentations, essentially turning any video conferencing system into a broadcast studio. With today’s release of software, TANDBERG’s Content Server is now simpler to use, links more readily to existing communication tools and management systems, and features tighter security.

Key features of the enhancements include:

* Simplification for the end-user:
o Streamlined content creation with customizable templates for recurring meetings.
o New and improved content editor allows users to set the start/end time for playback, remove conference padding, and join archived recordings together.
o Expanded search functionality.
o Personal bookmarks make it easier to access points of interest in the streamed content.
* Integration with existing tools and management systems:
o TANDBERG Expressway™ firewall traversal technology built directly into the Content Server.
o Ability to integrate with current work tools and third party applications through an Application Programming Interface (API).
o LDAP and Active Directory integration.
* Enhanced security:
o Increased control over content viewing and editing.
o User recognition that controls viewing rights.
o Role-based user management for users and groups.

The TANDBERG Content Server will begin shipping with the enhanced software on October 23, 2006. Upgrades for current products will also be available at that time.
