Gazprom to purchase Siemens equipment for Grozny TPP

A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Joe Kaeser, President and Chief Executive Officer of Siemens, took place in St. Petersburg on Friday.

The parties discussed ongoing and future cooperation, paying particular attention to the provision of equipment for the Grozny TPP. According to the signed contract, Siemens will ship, install and put into operation two gas turbines with a total capacity of up to 360 MW for the TPP. It is planned to bring the facility onstream in 2019.

Alexey Miller and Joe Kaeser noted the importance of the Grozny TPP construction project for the Chechen Republic. The new plant will, inter alia, fill the gap in power generation, provide reliable electricity supplies to consumers, and expand the gas sales market.

Gazprom and Siemens started cooperating in 1993. The two companies are working together in such areas as automation, telemechanics, power generation, compressor station equipment, oil and gas field development technologies, energy saving, and environmental protection.

The Gazprom Group is building the Grozny TPP in the city of Grozny, Chechen Republic. The plant will be mainly powered by natural gas.
