Examining the Tet Offensive from a Different Angle

Launched during the early hours of January 31, 1968, the Tet Offensive was a series of simultaneous attacks commenced by North Vietnamese troops on five major cities and smaller cities in almost every province in South Vietnam. David Earl Henard explains the events surrounding the attacks in full detail in his autobiography, “Victory Stolen.”

Henard’s book recalls the history of the Tet Offensive. It also reveals information previously undisclosed by reporters, whom he believes were biased and inexperienced. Such information includes the major battles in downtown Saigon and Tan Son Nhut airport. With testimonials from various authors and resources, the memoir seeks to tell the truth about the Vietnam War without omitting relevant information.

About the Author

David Earl Henard served as a captain signal officer and a helicopter pilot. After his tenure as an aviation detachment commander and battalion signal officer, he returned to civilian life. He earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at the University of Missouri of Rolla, prior to receiving his commission as a second lieutenant.
