Zume Hires Former Lyft Head of People Ron Storn

Culture-building veteran who led Lyft through massive expansion heads to the fastest growing food delivery company, Zume Pizza, as Chief People Officer

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – WEBWIRE

Zume Pizza, the company combining people and tech to transform food delivery, today named Lyft’s former VP of People Ron Storn as its Chief People Officer. With an extensive track record of business success, Storn’s nearly two decades of culture-building and human resource experience is critical to the planned expansion of Zume.

As a leading hyper-growth food and supply chain logistics company, Zume is reconstructing the way food is made and delivered. Since its launch less than two years ago, Zume has partnered with several local, strategic food suppliers, grew from 3 to 150 employees and expanded delivery to eight cities via its patented food delivery vehicles. With plans for 7X employee growth and expansion into several new markets in 2018, Storn will focus on building Zume’s engineering and business divisions.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Ron to Zume. His deep experience in organizational design and his commitment to building great corporate cultures aligns with our mission to make Zume an employer of choice in the world of food and technology,” stated Julia Collins, co-founder and President of Zume Pizza. “Ron has the perfect perspective to lead our pioneering efforts in building an automated work environment where people thrive.”

Storn comes to Zume after four years at Lyft, during which time the company went from reaching 1M cumulative rides to 1M rides per day. Storn expanded the team from 80 to over 2000 employees by focusing not only on creating a robust team of people but also engineering a culture that integrated diverse resources. Prior to Lyft, Storn led technical recruiting teams at Facebook and Google.

“What excites me most about Zume is its unwavering commitment to the promise of people and automation delivering the highest level of quality and service to customers,” Ron Storn said. “I look forward to helping build a dynamic culture that attracts the best and brightest talent during this high-growth period.”
