Aliens, deities, and intergalactic warfare. All of these and more are explored in “Olympus, and the House of Tchrlok” by author D. R. Spires. Myth and sci-fi are blended together seamlessly in Spires’s second work of fiction.

On the planet Traxis, in the Cygnus Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy, a young scientist has created a device capable of creating copies of life forms—living, expired, even imagined. What is initially seen as a minor accomplishment piques the interest of their ruler, who believes that the device could be useful in her plan to take over Telmut 3, or Earth, as it’s known to its inhabitants. This sparks a series of odd occurrences, including Herikles (Hercules) traipsing down a busy New York City street and Pan, the Greek god, pilfering food from small farms in Ohio.

Spires initially worked on his novel as an exercise for writing short stories, and after years of writing and much encouragement from his wife, he finally decided to share his work with the world.

“Olympus, and the House of Tchrlok” was displayed in LitFire Publishing’s booth during the 2017 Frankfurt Book Fair from October 11 to 15, held at Messe Frankfurt in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
