Bridge began as a variant of whist and gained popularity in the United States and the UK in the 1890s. It is still one of the most popular card games in the world today; several bridge tournaments are held annually throughout the globe. Like most trick-taking card games, the learning curve for bridge is often steep and overwhelming for first-time players. James Frazee’s book walks readers through the basics of playing bridge all the way to strategizing. The book outlines different concepts and conventions in bridge. Chapters one to three provide an overview of the game, chapters four to eight focus on bidding, and playing the hand and scoring are discussed in chapters nine and ten.

James Frazee has a doctorate degree from Purdue University. He used to work in a chemical company and often uses his own experiences and expertise when writing. He is also a cook and a bridge player. His work includes “Beginning Bridge by the Numbers,” “The Mosquito Bites” (a mystery novel), and “Quick and Healthy Recipes from the Store.”
