Homeless Isn’t Necessarily Hopeless

Philosophies and worldviews conspire to bring past lovers back together in A. Elio Borme’s newest romantic novel, “My Dear Clochard.”

Clochard in the title literally means “homeless” in French. The book discusses in detail several themes, including privilege, social inequality, and even romance. Set in Paris during winter, it follows Nicole Beauvier de la Chapelle, a still-beautiful lady in her fifties.

Watching a documentary one evening, she was shocked to see a familiar face on screen: it was Pierre Barbisson, her old flame whom she met as a classmate at Sorbonne. He was wandering in Trocadero with the homeless of Paris. She was curious to find out why he was homeless as he was supposedly an affluent man. She wanted to understand him once and for all. The reason for his homelessness may lead to the rekindling of their romance…or their final separation.

About the Author

Antonio Elio Borme is a surgeon by profession. He earned his degree in medicine in Rome in 1960. Having practiced medicine in Italy, England, Canada, and the United States, he is now retired and commits himself to becoming a full-time writer.
