Paris, October 10, 2006 - Alcatel (Paris: CGEP. PA and NYSE: ALA) today announced the general availability of a new end-to-end service management solution dedicated to triple play services. Powered by the new IBM Tivoli Netcool portfolio, this Alcatel solution improves service providers’ ability to speed time to market, reduce operational costs and ensure quality of service for next generation converged voice, data and video services.

Alcatel has pre-integrated IBM Tivoli Netcool technology, with additional features to deliver advanced end-to-end service assurance, quality management and troubleshooting.

This solution improves service provider’s ability to quickly deliver and support next generation converged voice, data and video services by :

* Monitoring triple play service quality as perceived by end users through advanced perceptual quality modeling and end-to-end quality measurement
* Improving service quality and customer satisfaction through rapid diagnostic and prioritization of problems according to end user impact
* Monitoring levels of service delivered to interconnected service providers and corporate customers, based on both service connectivity availability and user-perceived service degradation
* Automating service troubleshooting; enabling an organization to quickly and accurately identify the root cause of a triple play customer problem.

“In the new converged and complex telecom environment, managing end user quality of experience as well as service availability and service troubleshooting in a coherent way is essential for the successful deployment of triple play and will be a key differentiator for a competitive service offering” said Jean-Pierre Gaillat Vice President of Alcatel’s system and software integration activities.

“Rigorous attention to end user service quality will drive profits, increase customer retention and attract new customers for service providers,” said Arun Oberoi, VP Worldwide Tivoli Netcool Sales, IBM. “The Tivoli Netcool integration with Alcatel offers a compelling and tested combination of people, process and technologies to deliver a world class triple play service management solution.”

This new solution is demonstrated on the Alcatel booth during the Broadband World Forum 2006 in Paris, and in the newly inaugurated Alcatel IP Transformation Center in Antwerp.
