PHILADELPHIA--April 12, 2005--ARAMARK (NYSE: RMK) today announced that two of its proprietary brands in the K-12 market - the 12 Spot and U.B.U. Lounge - will be recognized by Nation’s Restaurant News magazine with the 2005 MenuMasters Award for Best On-Site Operator Menu during the National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show on May 21, 2005 in Chicago.

"The 12 Spot and U.B.U. Lounge are two of the most exciting innovations in our industry. They were developed as a result of extensive market research and were created to improve students’ dining options and environment while addressing their nutritional needs" said Jeff Wheatley, President, ARAMARK School Support Services. "The brands have proven to be truly successful and our team is honored to receive this recognition from Nation’s Restaurant News"

ARAMARK team members accepting the award will be Carolina Lobo, Vice President of Marketing for School Support Services and from ARAMARK’s Innovative Dining Solutions team: Paul Carr, Senior Director of Culinary, Stanton Lyons, Concept Development Chef, and Michael Pursell, Director of Concept Development.

The 12 Spot was designed to reflect the habits, choices and nutritional requirements of tweens (grades 6-8), and features healthy new menu items as well as brightly painted walls, fun food packaging, new lighting and music, updated and creative merchandising materials and casual uniforms worn by the 12 Spot food service team. The age-specific menu incorporates vibrant colors, extreme flavors and fun names. The recipes follow the appropriate portion size and nutritional content that growing kids need - in fact, over 60 percent of the recipes have fewer than 30 percent calories from fat. Some of the menu items include:

-- Meatball Bomber - Spaghetti and meatballs wrapped up and baked with mozzarella cheese in a pizza dough pocket

-- The Inside-Outer - American favorite grilled cheese sandwich, but grilled "inside out" on a hamburger bun and served with tomato soup

-- Beef-a-yaki - Beef slices, cooked with sesame seeds in a teriyaki sauce and served with rice

Similarly, the U.B.U. Lounge was developed to meet the specific taste preferences while addressing nutrition goals of teenagers (grades 9-12). High school lunchrooms adopting the U.B.U. Lounge have new colors infused throughout the environment, uplifting lighting, new fun food packaging, and relaxing student lounge areas, complete with furniture, music, and huge graphic images of fellow teens. Menu items in the U.B.U. Lounge have more mature flavors and age-appropriate themes for high school students. Menu options include:

-- Chicken Grande - Chicken, rice, beans, salsa and cheeses wrapped and baked in a tortilla and served with a cilantro lime sauce

-- Santa Fe Turkey - Turkey, ham, bacon and cheddar cheese baked with a tangy chili mayo in a sub roll

-- So-Sesame Chicken with Veggie Nice Rice - Diced chicken, cooked with sesame seeds in a teriyaki sauce and served with a medley of vegetables stirred into delicious fried rice.

ARAMARK School Support Services has already introduced these brands at over 120 middle and high schools across the country, reaching over 160,000 students in districts like New Haven, CT, St. Louis, MO, Houston, TX and Jacksonville, FL.

The annual MenuMasters Awards, created in 1998 by Nation’s Restaurant News and sponsored by Ventura Foods LLC, recognize the visionary and creative talents of research and development, culinary, and menu development staffs within the foodservice industry. They are awarded for setting new standards of excellence and creativity, which significantly impact and benefit the foodservice industry.
