Ericsson to supply Telenor with a complete packet core network for mobile high speed data

October 9, 2006, Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) has been selected by Telenor to supply a complete packet core network to enable differentiated delivery of multimedia services in Norway and Denmark. Telenor will get a common platform for both 2G and 3G data traffic with flexible, service aware charging capabilities to increase the average revenue per user and reduce churn.

Ericsson will provide Telenor the latest technology for mobile high speed data communication, paving the way for mobile advanced packet data based services such as Mobile TV and Mobile Gaming.

Under the contract Ericsson will be the sole supplier of the whole packet core network in Norway and Denmark, including Gateway GPRS Support Nodes and Serving GPRS Support Nodes, for 2G and 3G in the same platform and the Service Aware Charging solution. Roll-out will start during the third quarter of 2006.

Ericsson is offering its market leading common 2G/3G mobile data solution which has been in commercial service in other markets, such as Italy, for more than one year supporting cost-efficient roll out of 3G sharing capacity with existing 2G dynamically.
