Monartis Holdings Limited, the UK-based digital currency startup, have announced that registration has opened for their upcoming crowdfunding campaign.

The project will see the launch of an innovative new online store, in which consumers will be able to make payments using virtual coins from the outset. Hailed as a proof of concept store, the Monartis team are hopeful that the project will open the doors to mainstream adoption for their Monartis coin.

Co-founder Keith Barrett believes that many existing digital currencies suffer from shortcomings that have limited their adoption: “An increasing number of global consumers are aware of the existence of digital currencies, such as Bitcoin, but relatively few people are actually spending these currencies within their daily lives. We believe that we can change that situation, truly bringing the Monartis coin into regular use.”

The team behind the project have a background in both developing and marketing online stores. Those skills, together with their retail industry connections, are at the heart of their plan.

Ben Gower, the other half of the management team, highlights the importance of generating interest from other retailers: “From our experience within the sector, we know that retailers need to be convinced that the acceptance of digital coins is desirable, secure and easy to facilitate. Monartis is all about demonstrating that digital coins can be used every single day.”

The new online store is slated for launch in February 2018, with development already at an advanced stage. The founders are seeking additional funding at this point in order to expand the store offering and to promote use of the associated currency.

The team also plan to release a series of apps, designed to make access to the entire environment as user-friendly as possible. By June 2018, it’s envisaged that the team will also have implemented their revolutionary new Fast Checkout App, which should reduce online checkout times by up to 90%.

Full details of the team’s plans are available on the Monartis project website, at www.monartis.com.
