A Colorful Tale on Pet Ownership

There is a reason dogs are thought to be man’s best friend, and that reason is shown in Vince McGuinness’s children’s book, The Adventures of Nikko: The Bernese Swiss Mountain Dog. The book was displayed in LitFire Publishing’s booth during the Frankfurt Book Fair, held in Germany from October 11 to 15, 2017.

Nikko, a Bernese Swiss mountain dog, not only has a large build but also has a big heart. His human pal, Kara, is a young American woman. The two meet while Kara is still finishing her education in Europe. They are instant buddies after that. Kara takes care of Nikko and sees him grow into the large dog he is supposed to be. They go to different adventures together until an accident separates them. Now Nikko has to rely on his animal instincts to reunite with Kara.

Inspired by an actual Bernese mountain dog also named Nikko and McGuinness’s daughter, the book illustrates how special dogs are to their owners. The Adventures of Nikko is a story of loyalty, friendship, and love, appealing to young readers and animal lovers alike.
