90 000 jobs & training opportunities in one year

For the 2nd year in a row, Nestlé and the ’Alliance for YOUth’ will strongly contribute to EUVocational Skills week with more than 30 events and activities taking place in 23 countries across Europe, Middle East & North Africa (EMENA). From 20 to 24 November, the European Commission is holding the 2nd EU Vocational Skills week which aims at promoting Vocational Education & Training.

Marco Settembri, Nestlé’s CEO for Zone EMENA, said, “Since the launch of our ‘Alliance for YOUth’ initiative in 2014, we have set up 760 dual learning schemes which combine on-the-job training with school/university-based learning. I am also happy to see that since 2016, we have already offered 90 000 jobs and apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities.”

Beyond the achievements of the Alliance, Nestlé is recognised as a highly attractive employer. The company made it to the top-five of the International Happy Trainees ranking, and was the highest scoring food and beverage company.

The success of the Nestlé needs YOUth initiative in Europe has encouraged Nestlé to roll it out globally in 2016, enlarging its scope to cover the entire supply chain in 2017. With its Global Youth Initiative, Nestlé wants to help young people around the world have access to economic opportunities. In September 2017, Nestlé also joined the Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth, a scheme led by the International Labour Organisation to scale up action and impact on youth employment.
