COPENHAGEN, DENMARK - 05 Oct 2006: The Danish Gaming Board, a unit of the Danish Tax Authorities, and IBM (NYSE: IBM) have entered into an agreement under which IBM will deliver and maintain control systems for the Danish Gaming Board for the next three years.

The Danish Gaming Board supervises and controls the lottery and gaming market as well as game providers in Denmark. For each new game developed, a new control system is created to ensure adequate security measures are in place and that the correct amount is paid to the bona fide winner. Four new games are introduced each year, and the Gaming Board needed control systems capable of tracing all transactions.

“Automating the control systems and placing this task with a partner means we can concentrate on developing our platform for controlling the lottery and gaming market -- a market with many new and updated games. IBM has the integrity and expertise we need -- as well as a comprehensive understanding of our business requirements and existing solutions,” says Frantz Howitz, Director of the Danish Gaming Board.

Developing control systems requires knowledge of the industry, and the expertise and technology to effectively control games. The IBM solution includes consultancy, the development of new control systems and maintenance of the existing data structure as well as hardware.

“This new contract builds on IBM’s long term relationship with the Danish Gaming Board and Danske Spil, Denmark’s leading game provider, and demonstrates our profound knowledge of the industry’s systems and requirements. We are looking forward to further developing our relationship with the Danish Gaming Board by transforming our solutions into strategic initiatives for our client,” says Søren Helsted, IBM Global Business Services Partner, Denmark.

Each week the Danish Gaming Board handles a total of 10 million transactions, including 10,000 transactions per minute at peak times.
