Health-care organization will use MediKiosk™ to streamline patient check-in processes and provide way-finding

October 3, 2006 - MAITLAND, Fla. – Galvanon, an NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR) company, announced today that Lancaster General health system will license the MediKiosk™ patient self-service check-in solution to automate patient registration and way-finding at its facilities. Lancaster General, with facilities throughout Lancaster County, Pa., will implement MediKiosk at three locations, including the Diagnostic Imaging Department at Lancaster General Hospital and the Diagnostic Mammography Department at Lancaster General Women & Babies Hospital.

MediKiosk makes patient check-in and checkout processes more convenient for patients by allowing them to identify themselves upon arrival at the facility, view and confirm demographic and insurance information, electronically sign consent documents, enter medical history information and make co-payments. All information entered by the patient flows seamlessly to the hospital’s back-end systems, helping reduce administrative costs for the organization and minimizing the risk of error.

“As a nonprofit health system that constantly reinvests in new health-care technology, our mission is to advance the health and well-being of the communities of Lancaster,” said Jan Bergen, senior vice president for ambulatory care, Lancaster General. “We selected Galvanon’s patient self-service platform after an extensive six-month selection process because it will allow us to shorten wait times for patients and eliminate redundant paperwork, resulting in increased satisfaction and loyalty.”

In addition to using MediKiosk for patient registration, Lancaster General will also implement Galvanon’s MediKiosk WayFinder™ at its Lancaster General Health Campus location. The application provides patients and visitors with clear, readable directions from kiosks strategically located throughout the organization. WayFinder also allows users to map paths from multiple start points, or kiosks, to various rooms and departments across the campus.

“Through its use of MediKiosk, Lancaster General will be able to provide a host of benefits to patients and staff alike,” said Raj Toleti, president of Galvanon. “These solutions will have an immediate impact on the efficiency of Lancaster General’s operations and they will enable staff to create a more patient-centered environment that further enhances the health-care experience.”

Galvanon’s MediKiosk is part of a comprehensive suite of products that allows hospitals and clinics to provide patient self-service capabilities such as preregistration via the Web, Online BillPay and eClipboards™, Galvanon’s wireless patient check-in solution.
