Mirror Image and On2 Technologies Launch High-Quality Java Video Product; New Offering Brings TV-Quality Video to Online Advertising Market

WEBWIRE

TEWKSBURY, Mass. and NEW YORK--April 7, 2005--Mirror Image(R) Internet, an established provider of results-driven content delivery solutions powered by a patented global network, today announced a partnership with On2 Technologies, a leading technology firm at the forefront of video compression. Together, the companies will be delivering the On2 Video Java player to advertising customers worldwide using Mirror Image’s global Content Access Point(R) network for online content, application and transaction delivery. This new offering will allow online advertisers around the globe to incorporate television-quality video into their customers’ Web sites.

Mirror Image currently serves billions of advertising impressions each month. On2 Video codecs are licensed to companies including AOL, Viewpoint, Sony, XM Satellite Radio, Macromedia, the BBC and NTT East. The joint Java video product offering will consist of On2’s Java player and Mirror Image’s content delivery and tracking services, thereby creating a complete turnkey solution for the advertising community. The partnership will allow both On2 and Mirror Image to sell the Java video product under a Cost-Per-Thousand (CPM) pricing model. The product is available immediately.

“Java has been a compelling playerless platform for delivering marketing messages using video on the Internet, but the core weakness of existing Java players have been poor video quality and low frame rates,” said Douglas A. McIntyre, chairman, president and chief executive officer of On2. “The On2 Video Java player uses a codec that has an industry-wide reputation for its unusually excellent results at low data rates. The partnership with Mirror Image allows global delivery and tracking that is second to none.”

Mirror Image’s state-of-the-art, real-time monitoring and comprehensive reporting will be used in the system to supply advertisers and promotion firms with reports, administration and analytic information about their video advertising campaigns. On2’s Java player, with its 46 kilobyte JAR file and advanced video compression software, will give online advertisers unprecedented visual quality for their creative content.

“The new Java video product will be a tremendous step forward for online advertisers,” stated Bob Hammond, chief technology officer for Mirror Image. “These companies can now add high-quality video to their content and still deliver it efficiently through a highly reliable distributed global network.”
