Southgate, Michigan, September 21, 2006 - AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) today announced a new optical and data networking services contract with The Library Network (TLN), a public library cooperative serving southeastern Michigan. Under the terms of the three-year contract, AT&T will deliver AT&T OPT-E-MAN® and AT&T network-based virtual private network (VPN) to 55 libraries throughout the state.

Together, these products and services will deliver the latest-generation technology to the libraries allowing them to access headquarter servers to support bandwidth intensive applications. By using network-based VPN, TLN will realize a highly reliable, secure and scalable network for the transport of critical applications across a unified platform. The network-based VPN will also support any-to-any communications with remote and local employees and customers. With the OPT-E-MAN service, a fully managed, switched Ethernet network service, TLN will have access to a highly efficient solution for communicating across multiple locations within a metropolitan area over a single, secure managed network.

The converged network infrastructure will deliver enhanced productivity and efficiency to TLN, ensuring secure and constant access to network servers. Additionally, the optical network will continue to support high-availability data connectivity to the member libraries and the headquarter office.

“We were looking for a provider capable of deploying the latest-generation technology to support new bandwidth intensive applications,” said Angie Michelini, network services manager of The Library Network. “We are confident that the solution provided by AT&T will deliver a highly secure and reliable network capable of supporting advanced communications for 55 member libraries.”
