Munich Re Transitions to a Fully Managed Workplace with Bi-Model IT

Computacenter has been collaborating since 2015 with world leader in reinsurance, Munich Re, to design, build, and implement the concept of the “fully managed workplace.” It is part of a worldwide modernisation trend, which is occuring through the process of digitisation across businesses and organisations. Digitisation toward a managed workplace means transitioning away from the old make-or-buy strategy and embracing a new approach of bi-modal IT, or IT that focuses on the end-user. Munich Re is working to transform its workplace infrastructure through a digitisation strategy that allows for greater mobility across all fronts, making it into a next generation workplace.
 
Munich Re’s Global Infrastructure Services Officer, Dr. Dirk Heiss, explains how in the new digitisation strategy, three important components were identified: big data and analytics, collaboration, and bi-modal IT. The focus of the strategy is to establish a new delivery model within the framework where responsibility for further development, operation, and support of the workplaces is transferred to a service provider. Dr. Heiss says, “Our primary goal in the transformation and management of workplaces is to increase end-user satisfaction in the course of holistic optimisation. This can only be achieved if we hand the business requirements over to a partner who assumes end-to-end responsibility instead of simply acting as an extended workbench for Munich Re.”
