Serra Ventures’ Company Oso Technologies, Inc. Acquired By the Scotts Miracle-Gro Company

Champaign, IL (December 12, 2016) – Oso Technologies, creator of a robust Internet of Things soil moisture sensor, Plant Link, was acquired by the Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, (NYSE: SMG), the world’s leading marketer of branded consumer lawn and garden products, on December 8, 2016. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
 
The Serra team had worked closely with Oso Technologies from its original incorporation, providing the majority of the company’s financing in addition to providing strategic and operational guidance for over four years. Mercedes Mane, CEO of Oso, remarked: “The Serra team was invaluable not only in what they provided funding-wise, but for being integrally involved in assisting us with our everyday operations. We are extremely grateful for their role in developing our company and for their assistance in acquisition of Oso.”
