Memories of a Departed Loved One
Rosalie Contino’s touching story featured at the Guadalajara International Book Fair 2016.
“I felt the story should be told. People say mental illness is like a common cold and should be treated as such. Maybe it’s up to me to educate those who have turned away from friends who are afflicted with the same sickness.”
Author Rosalie Contino shares a life-changing experience in her second book, As Life Goes On: Lessons One Doesn’t Want to Have to Learn.
The book recounts the memories she shared with her late brother, Bob, as he faced his battle with schizophrenia. The trials that she faced came with valuable life lessons. Looking back, the author is amazed with the level of patience she had while handling her brother’s problems. “I guess I could tap myself on the back for these challenges,” she said.
The author also aims to enlighten the public about the challenges that come with battling schizophrenia. She said, “I felt the story should be told. People say mental illness is like a common cold and should be treated as such. Maybe it’s up to me to educate those who have turned away from friends who are afflicted with the same sickness.”
As Life Goes On: Lessons One Doesn’t Want to Have to Learn graced the Guadalajara International Book Fair 2016. The event was held at Expo Guadalajara exhibition center in Guadalajara, Mexico. LitFire Publishing displayed the book from November 26 to December 4, 2016.
