Edgenet Releases Product Content Cloud Update Increasing Manufacturer and Retailer Control Over Advanced Product Attributes

Update improves suppliers’ ability to provide detailed, complex data to retailers, among other features

NASHVILLE, Tennessee – WEBWIRE

The update makes it possible for suppliers to upload and manage more detailed and complex sets of product data, improves product data accuracy and allows retailers to more easily view and collect suppliers’ product data.

Edgenet, a Software as a Service (SaaS) company that was one of the first to embrace the cloud for product data management and configuration, announced today that it has released an update to Product Content Cloud—cloud-based software that standardizes, stores and syndicates product data. The update makes it possible for suppliers to upload and manage more detailed and complex sets of product data, improves product data accuracy and allows retailers to more easily view and collect suppliers’ product data.

Specific improvements include:

  • Multi-Value Attributes – Allows users to select multiple values for one product attribute. These new attributes will be rolled out over time, targeting attributes such as “Country of Origin” where products could be produced in several different countries.
  • Conditional Attributes – Allows secondary attributes to be enabled and triggered to display based on initial values. For example, if the answer to “are there shipping restrictions?” is “yes,” supplementary attributes are appended to capture that additional information.
  • Complex Attributes – Allows suppliers to provide types of product information never before possible, by grouping multiple sets of attributes under a parent attribute. The first implementation involves Product Restrictions data, which allows entry of any and all selling restrictions in multiple countries, states and cities, on any given product.

“As a company that values thoughtful innovation, we’re excited to unveil a new and improved version of Product Content Cloud this quarter,” said Steve Proctor, Edgenet’s CEO. “This newest release doesn’t add more technology to our software for the sake of novelty—its new functions will benefit suppliers’ and retailers’ bottom lines, because they support more detailed data taxonomies that will help consumers find the exact product they’re searching for online and give them all the information they need about that product to make a purchase.”

With Edgenet’s new release, updated system messaging also provides clear warnings when spreadsheets are uploaded with missing information or when errors are present—improving accuracy and efficiency by making sure data is correct the first time it’s uploaded.

Suppliers also now have more options in how they can export and import their data. Rather than always having to export en masse, users can now choose to export or import only data that is specific to a given retailers’ requirements—as well as other smaller subsets of data. For retailers, this focus allows them to receive that precise data they need faster, making data management easier on both sides of the channel.
