“In the following pieces I have tried to describe some of the people and pets in my life who have left a lasting impression. My descriptions of them are like echoes and shadows of the feelings I have about them. I hope that the book will give you a laugh, make you cry, and stimulate your mind. Enjoy!”

Buddy G. Webb’s book Echoes and Shadows of Life: As Revealed in Folk Poetry, Old Photographs, and Art makes an appearance at LitFire Publishing’s booth during the annual Frankfurt Book Fair. The event was held on October 19–23, 2016, at Messe Frankfurt (Frankfurt Trade Fair) in Frankfurt, Germany.

The book is a journey through man’s experiences mirrored in photos, poems, and art. It is a reflection of the human condition—its ups and downs, along with the interesting personalities we meet along the way.

In his book, Webb points out that it takes courage to deal with life’s challenges, that life can be so unfair. He also relates how he personally saw Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, Harry Truman, and JFK display courage under difficult circumstances.

As a man in his 80s, Webb shares lifetime lessons in a very personal way. “In the following pieces I have tried to describe some of the people and pets in my life who have left a lasting impression. My descriptions of them are like echoes and shadows of the feelings I have about them. I hope that the book will give you a laugh, make you cry, and stimulate your mind. Enjoy!” the author says.

Being in free verse, the poems in Echoes and Shadows of Life are prose-like and telling. The illustrations are filled with humor, and the pictures make a vivid representation of history.
