Look for Ocean First Education at NCAR on “Super Science Saturday”

Nov. 5 event focuses on “Our Changing Climate”

Boulder, Colo. – WEBWIRE

Boulder, Colo., — Oct. 31, 2016 — Students attending “Super Science Saturday” on Nov. 5 will have a chance to explore the ocean’s role in the earth’s climate at the exhibit sponsored by Ocean First Education.

“Super Science Saturday” is an annual event at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) that brings kids and adults together to engage in hands-on activities, explore new ideas, and learn about science. This year’s theme is “Our Changing Climate!”

Ocean First Education staff will offer students a chance to learn about the critical role that the ocean plays in the Earth’s climate through student-focused trivia contests, arts and crafts activities, and interactive demonstrations.

“There are many things we can do in our daily lives that help protect the quality of the ocean environment, whether we live right next to the ocean or in a landlocked state,” said Cathy Christopher, Director of Curriculum Development for Ocean First Education. “We enjoy helping students and seeing everyone recognize that connection, by doing it in a way that’s fun and engaging. The future of the ocean is our future on land and raising awareness about the inter-relationship is key.”

“Super Science Saturday” is sponsored by the UCAR (University Corporation for Atmospheric Research) Center for Science Education and will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is open to the public. NCAR is located at 1850 Table Mesa Drive in Boulder.
