Written to evoke nostalgia from parents who’ve raised kids and men recalling their growing-up years, this book will surely make you laugh as you relate to Peter and make you grateful that you survived your youthful indiscretions.

What would you do if someone told you to go swimming at the YMCA naked? That’s the dilemma awkward Peter Van Nest had to deal with in John W. Sloat’s fresh new book, Memories of My Misadventures.

Set in post–World War II America, Peter recalls incidents from his dysfunctional teenage years growing up in a religious family. We follow him as he blunders through misadventures of the most hilarious kind, and his penchant for getting in to trouble leads him to some zany situations. With amusing and thought-provoking stories, he ruminates about his religion, his curiosity about sex, his getting into trouble with the family car, and his fascination with fire as he tries to play out his pyromaniac fantasies.

Written to evoke nostalgia from parents who’ve raised kids and men recalling their growing-up years, this book will surely make you laugh as you relate to Peter and make you grateful that you survived your youthful indiscretions.
