100 Women in Wedding Dresses Blitz the Penn State/U-Mich Game
STATE COLLEGE, PA, Sep 17, 2006 -- The Penn State vs. University of Michigan game on October 14, 2006 is slated to be one of the biggest games of the Penn State season. Hours before the game, 100 women in wedding dresses will be having their own blitz as they take the Penn State campus in an effort to promote the website, www.nittanyweddings.com. It’s Bride Blitz 2006.
Kerri Smith of Nittany Weddings came up with the idea. “We’re a new company with a small advertising budget, so I was trying to come up with a creative (and inexpensive idea) that would put us on the map. NittanyWeddings.com is a business directory of every wedding vendor in the Centre Region. We want to let our potential advertisers know that we will be extremely successful in driving business their direction as well.”
Smith’s business partner, Christine Eveleth heard the idea and thought Kerri was crazy. “Normally, Kerri is on the conservative, calculated risk side of things. When she came up with this and was really excited about it, I knew I should pay attention. We know we have to do some different things to get noticed – we’re really excited to see how this works!”
The 100 dresses were given to Nittany Weddings by Simply Elegant Gowns in State College, PA. The sister team of Kristen Ortiz and Jess Corl are equally excited about the Bride Blitz. “We’re also a newer business in town and our location (behind Wegmans) isn’t highly visible off of Atherton Street, so when Kerri and Christine approached us about the idea we were confident this would be a great way to let people know who we are,” said Ortiz.
Joel and Andrea Knepper of J&A Photography will take pictures of the event. “They’re a young, extremely creative team who has already contributed some great preliminary photographs and ideas to the Blitz.” said Smith.
