Bob: As Life Goes On: Lessons One Doesn’t Want to Have to Learn is a memoir that narrates the author’s agony of seeing her brother Bob suffer from a mild case of schizophrenia. Contino did not pursue many of her plans to take care of her beloved brother, as she promised her deceased parents.

Rosalie starts the first few pages of her book sharing the pain she felt when her brother, because of his illness, was not invited to attend the wedding of a close friend’s daughter. She also expresses her hurt when Bob’s company, where he worked for forty years, advised her brother to retire to avoid any accident caused by his disability.

But more than anything else, this book reveals not only the author’s frustrations, but also the learnings she gained in caring for her dear brother, Bob. Contino’s book will teach lessons of life and love first-hand from a caregiver’s perspective.
