If you’re interested to know the origins of Satanism, here’s a book that documents extensively the history of the Church of Satan, a religious institution consecrated by and believing in the Prince of Darkness. It gives a background of the church’s founding by Anton and Diane LaVey in San Francisco to its dissolution a decade later, until the succession of the Temple of Set.

In The Church of Satan, the reader will find that the Church was an active organization with individual and group issues. About the Author

Dr. Michael Aquino was the sole member of the Church of Satan to reach the Second Level of the Fourth Degree before 1975, and was a member of the Church’s Council of Nine and Order of the Trapezoid from 1970 to 1975. While working for the Council, he was also the editor of the Church’s Cloven Hoof newsletter. Aquino is a retired Lt. Colonel of the US Army Psychological Operations and a former adjunct professor in political science at Golden Gate University. He presently lives in San Francisco with his wife, Lilith.
