. This is a well written and comprehensive account of the Lenten journey and its implications for a deep and sustained response to God’s call to holiness.

This aptly titled and provocative book by Milton Lopes speaks to the spiritual hunger of many men and women of faith. This is a well written and comprehensive account of the Lenten journey and its implications for a deep and sustained response to God’s call to holiness. Lopes begins with a review of the history of Lent and from there provides the reader with an overview of the creation story and a discussion of evil and sin, the Trinity and the Incarnation.  He then poses several questions which one needs to answer to successfully pass through the “desert” to spiritual wholeness, i.e. where are we, what are we, who are we, and why are we? He completes his book with an extended meditation on Jesus’ journey from Cavalry to the coming of the Paraclete. Even though focused on the season of Lent, this book has relevance throughout the year.

Lenten Reflections: From the Desert to the Resurrection will be exhibited during the BookExpo America on May 11-13, 2016, at the McCormick Center in Chicago, Illinois. To learn more about the book, as well as Milton Lopes’s other works, you may visit his website at www.thyspirit.com.
