Good and Evil Clash in New Satirical Mock Epic

A dictator and hero clash in Horacio Hernández’s book, The Incredible Wedding of a Dictator. This suspenseful piece was featured last March 12 to 13, 2016, in the Tucson Festival of Books at the University of Arizona campus.

Hernández tells a tale of intrigue through two men talking about a town named Dolorosa Village, a community once headed by a despotic leader. The men discuss the life of the dictator. They reveal his humble beginnings as a regular commoner and the dastardly deeds he committed to reach his position. As the dictator reigned in Dolorosa, a hero fights to usurp his governance and save the people.

In The Incredible Wedding of a Dictator, Hernández embodies the struggle between good and evil in the characters of the dictator and the hero. He describes the ways that power and its allure can corrupt people and warp them into the worst versions of themselves.

This book will raise thought-provoking ideas about history, politics, and human nature among readers.

About the Author

Horacio Hernández was born in Sabana de la Mar, Dominican Republic. He received his master’s and doctor’s degrees in Spanish and Latin American literature from the State University of New York. Before moving to the United States, he worked as a Spanish-language instructor and technical coordinator in the Peace Corps. He taught in several schools for a number of years.
