The book utilizes historical and medical facts to weave a fascinating tale that while fictional, is all too plausible for comfort. Brown’s striking portrayal of small town New England life draws the reader into his world, while the mystery at the novel’s core will fascinate even the most jaded of medical sleuths.

The London Book Fair is a renowned book-publishing trade fair attended by delegates from all over the world. In LBF 2016, one of the participating authors was Meredith Brown, with his book, Sometime: The Plague World. This chilling work of medical fiction is the story of a retired lawyer and his two sons and their search for the source of a deadly influenza epidemic.

In the book, a seemingly garden-variety flu is killing people from Dan Floyd’s community at an astounding rate. Floyd’s fascination with epidemics and history lead him to investigate about the flu together with his sons, of whom one is a doctor. They discover a family of doctors who worked with the flu epidemic from 1918 to 1919. Floyd and his sons suspect that this family’s work has something to do with the current epidemic.
