By leveraging digital tools and underwater video, including new 360 technology, we can give students anywhere in the world a window into the underwater world. Working in conjunction with Discovery Education and through this virtual experience, we are helping educators worldwide engage students and stimulate interest in STEM-related coursework," said Graham Casden, founder of Ocean First Education.

In collaboration with Discovery Education, students worldwide are exploring the ocean through a virtual “deep dive” with Ocean First Education this month. In celebration of Earth Day (April 22), Discovery Education, the leading provider of digital content and professional development for K-12 classrooms, teamed with Ocean First Education to produce a special virtual experience that engages students in a host of scientific and environmental topics. This underwater expedition, “Take a Deep Dive Under the Sea,” is now available here.

With exclusive underwater footage, this unique virtual experience explores a variety of critical science topics, such as marine science, biodiversity, and conservation, and offers students simple steps to help improve the ocean’s health. In addition, this exciting expedition features interviews with Ocean First Education founder Graham Casden, marine ecologist Caine Delacy, Ph. D., and curriculum and outreach coordinator Catherine Christopher.

“Discovery Education and Ocean First Education share a joint commitment to leveraging digital content and new technologies to more deeply engage students in learning,” said Kelli Campbell, senior vice president and digital learning officer at Discovery Education. “Together, we’ve created a unique virtual experience that takes students beyond the classroom to the ocean depths, where they will study some of the most important scientific and environmental topics of our time.”

In support of this Discovery Education event, Ocean First Education will participate in a Twitter chat at 1 p.m. EST on Friday, April 22. To engage in the Twitter chat, visit @DiscoveryEd and use hashtag #EarthDay2016.
