TestAmerica to Present at the 2016 Ohio Brownfield Conference

Canton, OH – WEBWIRE

The Ohio EPA Division of Environmental Response and Revitalization is holding its annual Brownfield Conference on April 6 and 7 in Columbus, Ohio.  The conference attracts attendees from a number of different environmental disciplines including environmental consultants, developers, environmental attorneys and cleanup contractors.

TestAmerica, the leader in environmental testing, will be providing a presentation at the conference entitled Aroclor Analysis and the Challenge of Matrix Interference.  Ray Risden, Technical Director at TestAmerica, will discuss the analytical process required to produce quality PCB data from uncommon and difficult matrices such as caulk, sealants, concrete and solvent mixtures.  These complex samples pose significant challenges for environmental laboratories.  As such, it is imperative that the laboratory effectively adapt the analytical process to produce useful and compliant data.  The presentation will detail a holistic approach to analyzing complex sample matrices, from sample preparation and extraction to extract cleanup and finally analysis by gas chromatography.

Ray Risden has more than 23 years of experience in the environmental testing industry, holding positions as a chemist, Department Manager, Operations Manager and Technical Director at TestAmerica’s Canton, Ohio laboratory.  He has extensive experience adapting organic methodologies to the unique samples generated by the demolition and remediation of facilities in multiple industries. Mr. Risden earned his BS in Biology and minor in Chemistry from Walsh University in 1992.
