Ocean First Education, offering standards-based online marine science education, announced today that curriculum director Catherine Christopher will present at the Colorado Alliance for Environmental Education (CAEE) conference in Denver on Friday, March 18. CAEE facilitates communication and collaboration among the varied environmental education programs in the state. Christopher’s presentation begins at 1 p.m. in North Classroom #1402.

During “Our Precious Ocean-Engaging in Marine Science,” Christopher will explain how awareness begins with understanding the ocean, its inhabitants and our connection to the marine environment. Attendees will learn how to develop ocean advocates by incorporating marine science content in their classrooms, how to identify human impacts on the ocean and what solutions are being pursued. Christopher’s presentation is part of a “Connecting People to Nature” strand; her co-presenter is Judy Lopez from the Rio Grande Watershed Conservation & Education Initiative.
