Buffalo Laboratory Receives CDC ELITE Certification for Legionella Testing

EMSL Analytical, Inc. is proud to announce that its Buffalo laboratory received CDC ELITE certification for Legionella testing. EMSL now has 13 CDC ELITE laboratories within its network of facilities across North America, which is more than any other laboratory in the United States.  

“We are very proud of EMSL Buffalo and our other 12 laboratories that are now CDC ELITE,” said Diane Miskowski, MPH, National Legionella Program Manager at EMSL Analytical, Inc. “With an increase in demand for regional Legionella testing locations across the country, EMSL is continually working to grow the number of CDC ELITE certified labs within our laboratory network. The increased demand is a result of the recent passage of ASHRAE 188 for preventing legionellosis in building water systems, along with the outbreaks in cities like New York. These events have stressed the importance of having a Legionella Water Safety Plan and validating that plan by doing Legionella testing. EMSL has several labs in the queue for Legionella certification in 2016.” 

Along with Legionella testing, EMSL Buffalo offers testing services for asbestos, indoor air quality (IAQ) and microbiology. EMSL Buffalo is accredited by NVLAP for bulk asbestos and airborne asbestos analysis. The laboratory is NY-ELAP certified for asbestos testing in potable water, solid and hazardous water along with air and emissions. Also, EMSL Buffalo earned IRSST recognition for asbestos analysis by PLM and TEM.
